INSURANCE:

I am currently in network with:
  • BCBS TX
  • United Healthcare
Regardless of your insurance provider or my network status, it is strongly recommended that you reach out to your insurance provider before your first appointment to ask the following questions:
  1. Does my policy cover mental health/psychotherapy/behavioral health/counseling? (These all means the same thing, but different providers may use different terminology.)
  2. Do I have a mental health deductible that I must meet before my benefits kick in?
  3. Do I have a co-pay or co-insurance? How do those work?
  4. Do I have out-of-network benefits? What’s the process for filing for reimbursement?
  5. Is there a limit on my mental health benefits? A maximum number of sessions per day/week/month/year or a dollar amount?
  6. If I file for reimbursement myself because my provider (counselor or therapist) is out of network, where do I find the necessary forms or links? What will I need from my therapist? (Notes, a superbill, a diagnosis?)
  7. If seeking coverage for my child, does my child’s coverage differ in any way from mine? If so, how?
  8. What is the contracted rate for in-network or reimbursement? (If out-of-network, will I be reimbursed the full amount charged, or some other/lesser amount?)

Asking these questions up front can potentially save you hundreds or thousands of dollars over the course of your treatment. Knowing how to submit a claim out-of-network can be tricky the first time, but the savings and future peace of mind will be worth the initial learning curve.

If I can assist you in any way, please let me know.
