In addition to personal study and ongoing continuing education, I participate in a weekly international DBT collaborative consultation of therapists representing a wide spectrum of political, personal and religious viewpoints. We help each other grow and stay accountable so that we can provide the best care to you.

WELCOME! I'm so glad you made it this far. This is a BIG step.

Life is hard. You have probably already figured that part out. So many things bring people to therapy: maybe they hit they hit a self-help wall, maybe someone they care about gave them a nudge… or an ultimatum, maybe they need guidance or advice about a very specific situation, or maybe what started as a specific situation has now revealed lots and lots of stuff that can no longer be buried, forgotten or ignored.

Wherever you are, I can help you.

I work largely with adult survivors of childhood abuse and trauma. I have extensive experience and training in trauma-informed care, mindful practices (all the things we do to stop reacting to the past and start living in the present), attachment (how we go about securing/avoiding closeness with others and exercising trust/distrust), and self-compassion.

If we work together, you can expect
  • Warm conversation and plenty of dialogue (we will both talk… mostly about you, of course)
  • Breath-work and other somatic practices (we can’t attend to the heart or mind until we have attended to the body)
  • Parts work and other self-compassion practices (you will learn to stop saying “I don’t know why I did that” while feeling embarrassed or ashamed or uncomfortably confused, and start staying “A part of me knows exactly why I did that” while feeling curious, non judgmental and open to new possibilities)
  • Useful models and education(you aren’t alone and there is a lot of helpful stuff out there that can help explain some of the complex stuff you have experienced and the way it has affected how you think, feel and behave)
  • Clarity (about your needs and goals, your values and your deep beliefs)
  • Boundaries (when to say yes, when to say no, and how to identify where others end and you begin)
  • Acceptance and unconditional positive regard
  • Understanding (from both heart and mind)
  • Patience and tenderness
  • A generous dose of spirituality (regardless of you religious beliefs or affiliations)

To start sharing your story and begin this next chapter of your healing, please reach out with an email, text or call. I look forward to hearing from you.

In the meantime, don't forget to check out my RESOURCE PAGE. It has breath work videos for fighting off panic or rage, movement for releasing pent up worry, books, blogs and other good stuff… FREE.

About Me
Before stepping into private practice, I was a Spanish teacher, a crisis intervention specialist, and a school counselor. I completed my counseling training in 2012 at the University of North Texas and feel a deep sense of purpose as I strive to skillfully support and strengthen ALL types of individuals and families with empathy and compassion. We heal together.

My own family is multicultural, interfaith, blended and bilingual. Faith, family and a heavy dose of curiosity have carried us through a myriad of highs and lows including blended family dynamics, mental health struggles, cancer, the unexpected loss of loved ones to suicide, career changes and challenges... and just plain growing up (and that refers to all of us… not just the actual kids).  Every experience has tested me... and deepened my capacity for compassion and non-judgment toward self and others.

I love working with people from diverse experiences, backgrounds, cultures and belief systems. Challenging my own comfort zone has helped me to grow, to chill out, to ask better questions, and to find truer answers.
